Dean Tompkins:

Dr. Tompkins received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the

University of Wisconsin – Platteville; his M.S. in Mechanical Engineering

from the University of Wisconsin – Madison (UW); and his Ph.D.

in Mechanical Engineering from the UW.


Dr. Tompkins holds a part-time position as Associate Scientist

in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, UW.


He is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), where he chairs the technical committee TC 2.3 on Gaseous Air Contaminants & Removal Equipment.

Dr. Tompkins is a leader in the field of engineering systems that use advanced catalytic materials.


Research Interests

Current research interests include catalysis and photocatalysis from fundamental understanding to commercial applications.
